Educational credential assessment (ECA)

As a part of the international admission process, Camosunassesses your previously completed academic credentials.

The International ϳԹ department does notrequire anexternal educational credential assessment for admission purposesas previous coursework is not being evaluated for credit towards a ϳԹ credential.

If you are interested in receiving Camosun credits forcourses completed at other colleges or universities:

  1. Review Camosun Transfer Credit process.The process involves a separate form, a separate fee, and sealed, official transcripts and official English translations, if applicable.Detailed course syllabi/outlines may be required.

Canadian High School

English Proficiency
Completion of with a C+ or better or a Canadian High School equivalent meets the English proficiency requirements for admission to most academic programs.

British-patterned Education (GCSEs and A-levels)

High School Graduation
If you will be less than 19 years of age at the start of your first academic term, a minimum of 3 AS- or A-level courses may be considered as High School Graduation for ϳԹ purposes (with all courses in different subject areas).

English Proficiency
Completion of AS or A-Level English/Literature with a C or better may be considered meetingthe English proficiency requirementfor admission to most academic programs.
O-Level English mightnot be considered as proof of English Proficiency.

USA High School

English Proficiency
Completion of Grade 12 English Studies/Literature/Composition/Creative Writing with a minimum grade of C+ or better from an accredited recognized secondary education school located in the USA may be considered as meeting the English proficiency requirements for admission to most academic programs.

SAT Scores are not required.

GEDmay be considered as proof of High School Graduation only, however, individual GED subjects might not be considered as proof of English proficiency or other prerequisites.

Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) students

If you want your AP or IB courses evaluated for possible university-level transfer credit, you need to submit an official AP or IB transcript andapply for transfer creditat ϳԹ. Ask your high school counsellor how to request these transcripts.

Certain AP and IB courses may be considered as meeting the English proficiency requirements for admission to most academic programs.Please contact International ϳԹ.

BC college/university-level English, Written Communications, Creative Writing or Literature courses that transfer to Camosun as ENGL 151 - Academic Writing Strategies with a minimum grade of C may be considered as meeting the English proficiency requirements for admission to most academic programs. ϳԹ would like to ensure you are aware of Transfer Credit, the effects it may have on your eligibility to apply for a PGWP and the amount of time you will receive for your PGWP according to the .

If you are a UVic/RRU student wishing to take 3-5 courses per semesterat ϳԹ,information in thesection belowmightnot apply.

Are you a University of Victoria (UVic) or a Royal Roads University (RRU) studentwishing to take 1 or 2 courses per semester at Camosun with intention to transfer these courses back to UVic/RRU?

To be admitted as aVisitingStudent, you must submit a ‘Letter of Permission’ from UVic/RRUand must meet general college admission criteria and all prerequisites for each ϳԹ course in which you are seeking enrolment.

The College may consider admitting part-time visiting international students from UVic/RRU with valid study permitswhenthe respective International Admission Deadlines have passed, but not earlier than 2 weeks after the registration for particular programshave started.
